New, renewal and transfer applications can be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office window during working hours (8:00-5:00 Monday -Thursday and 9:00-5:00 Friday)
*To receive an application for a Carry Concealed Weapon permit (CCW), you must apply in person at the Sheriff’s Office.
We now offer our Concealed Weapon's forms in an online editable PDF format. To access, edit and print click on one of the links listed under editable forms.
- 1. A new CCW permit requires: a completed application, small color photo, driver’s license, check for $55.00, made payable to Ravalli County Treasurer’s Office, a firearm safety certificate, and fingerprint cards.
- 2. A renewal CCW permit requires: a completed renewal application, current photo, driver’s license, check for $25.00, made payable to Ravalli County Treasurer’s Office, and a current CCW permit. If the current CCW permit is even 1 day over the expiration, the whole process must be started over as if applying for a new permit.
- 3. Transferals from another Montana city or town and from states in which Montana recognizes: need a completed transferal form, a copy of their CCW permit, and a copy of the driver’s license. They do not have to renew their CCW permit until the expiration date on their current CCW permit. They must notify their county within 10 days of their move.
- 4. Transferals from states not recognized by Montana will be treated as a new application.
