When contemplating a change in one’s physical residence or buying a home in Ravalli County, knowing in which school district a new residence is located is often a great discussion and often confusing. While realtors make some attempt to know the appropriate school district in which the property resides, it is ultimately the new owner’s responsibility to make that determination.
The following site may help you in making that determination: http://www.gis.doa.state.mt.us/.
Once you activate this page, click on the section marked “Parcel Search”. Mark the question, OK. This will open the page that will give you three options to seach a particular piece of property. You can find the property in any of the three. You only need one method, however. For two options, you will need to select the county. If you are not sure of your geocode, visit http://geocoder.us/
After entering information in any one section, this will open a page of possible property parcels. Select the property you are researching. On the extreme right of the table, there is an option to “View Parcel Details”. Chose this option.
The “View Parcel Details” screen will show all of the information about this property. The “County Levy District” shows which school district in which the property resides. The district is listed by its District Number.
The District Numbers are:
- 1 - Corvallis
- 2 and 4 - Stevensville
- 3 - Hamilton
- 7 - Victor
- 9 - Darby
- 13 - Lone Rock
- 15 - Florence-Carlton
Make a copy of this information and go to that specific school district and discuss with them to make absolute sure the property in which you are interested is in that school district, and then there will be no doubt, no confusion, and no mistakes.
