March 17th Zoning Workshop
Clarion Associates and the Public Policy Research Institute conducted a public zoning workshop on Monday, March 17th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Family Center in Stevensville. The consultants gave an overview of the feedback that was received on the Draft A zoning regulations and highlighted common themes throughout the public comments. Clarion also summarized their own recommendations for changing the regulations, and briefly touched on some additional tools that may be incorporated into Phase I zoning. A Discussion on Groundwater Availability in Ravalli County
The following individuals were at a groundwater availability meeting to provide information on groundwater availability and answer questions in a public forum:
John LaFave, Associate Research Hydrogeologist with the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology
Eric Regensberger, Senior Hydrologist with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)

Countywide Zoning Meeting Series Outline: August - November 2007
Community Planning Committee Workshops:The Sonoran Institute designed and conducted two training and teambuilding workshops for CPC members and other interested persons. The agenda is included a review of a groundrules document that will be used to guide the zoning project, participation in cohesion-building exercises, and strategization for future steps. As only two workshops were held, attendance was be based on school district areas as listed below:

The Planning Department hosted a booth at the Ravalli County Fair to publicize the Countywide Zoning Project. A brief survey was conducted and the results can be read here.
Presentations on Growth and Change in the Bitterroot Valley
Dr. Larry Swanson, Director of the O'Connor Center for the Rocky Mountain West gave presentations on his research on recent trends in the Bitterroot Valley regarding population, economics, the role of agriculture, and on the importance of grassroots involvement in local planning efforts. These were given on:
Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at 7:00 PM at the Lone Rock School Gym (1112 Three Mile Road) and
Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at 7:00 PM at Hamilton City Hall (223 S. 2nd Street).
At the conclusion of each meeting, Staff outlined the next steps of the zoning effort.
