The Streamside Setback Committee (SSC) was created by resolution of the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) on April 12, 2007. Its membership was finalized on June 8, 2007. The SSC is charged with pursuing the following goals:
- Examine the various methods of regulating development near stream corridors, including those local efforts already underway, as well as other alternatives, with particular attention to those methods based on peer-reviewed science and local conditions.
- Create a proposed streamside setback zoning regulation to be presented to the Planning Board and BCC for consideration.
- Conduct a thoroughly transparent and participatory process, frequently soliciting citizen input and incorporating the public's feedback as an integral part of the proposal.
Regular Meetings: Unless advertised otherwise, the SSC will hold regular meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The first Tuesday of each month will be reserved as an optional “working session,” to be held at the call of the Chairperson if additional work or deliberation is needed on a particular item.
Next Regular Meeting: Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of County Commissioners' Meeting Room
