Corridor Plans are land use plans such as zoning or regulations for a corridor such as a highway corridor. Ravalli County currently has no adopted corridor plans.
County Commissioners are elected officials who administer laws relating to Ravalli County. The five commissioners serve four-year terms and make final decisions on most land use proposals such as subdivisions, neighborhood plans, growth policy amendments, and zoning requests. Family Transfers are a land division made for the purpose of a single gift or sale in each county to each member of the landowner's immediate family. Such transfers may be made as follows: parent to child, spouse to spouse, or child to parent. These land divisions are exempt from subdivision review. They may not be done in previously platted subdivisions. See Subdivision Exemptions below.

Floodplain Regulations in the county are administered through the Planning Department. See our Floodplain page for permit applications and regulations.
Growth Policy is an adopted land use policy that provides guidelines for growth and development in Ravalli County. It is not a regulatory document. See Long-Range Planning page for the Ravalli County Growth Policy.
Neighborhood Plans provide more specific guidance for an element included within a Growth Policy. They are not zoning, nor are they regulatory. They may be implemented through land use planning tools, such as zoning. See Zoning page.
Planning Board is composed of twelve members in Ravalli County. Ten members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and serve two-year terms. One member is appointed by the Bitterroot Conservation District and one is appointed by the Ravalli County Park Board, but is non-voting. The Planning Board provides recommendations regarding subdivisions, regulatory revisions, and other land use policies to the Board of County Commissioners. Septic Permits are administered through the Environmental Health Department. 375-6565

Subdivision Exemptions include Boundary Line Relocations, Family Transfers, Agricultural Covenants, and Mortgage Releases, among others. To apply, submit a Subdivision Exemption Application to the Planning Department with the required fee. See Subdivisions and Exemptions page for the application.
Voluntary Zoning Districts are zoning districts created through citizen petition and they are regulatory. See Zoning page for information about how to create or amend a Voluntary Zoning District.
