The Ravalli County Planning Department is open to the public from
9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for County holidays.
The Planning Department will be closed on Monday, October 13, 2008, for Columbus Day.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Ravalli County Planning Department is to administer and facilitate the processes of land use planning, subdivision review, and floodplain management in order to promote a high quality of life while protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Ravalli County. The Planning Department aims to provide the public with excellent service and accurate information. Prioritized Planning Program Goals adopted December 6, 2007
The Planning Department:
Provides information to the public about land use regulations, policies, and procedures.
Facilitates long-range planning projects including the Growth Policy, neighborhood plans, corridor plans.
Implements long range planning initiatives through development of and revisions to land use regulations, such as the Countywide Zoning Project, Streamside Setbacks, Subdivision Regulations, Floodplain Regulations, and other implementation tools such as the Open Lands Bond.
Manages and administers the County’s Subdivision Regulations, Floodplain Regulations, and Zoning Regulations, including interim zoning, voluntary zoning districts and any future County-adopted zoning.
Reviews floodplain permit applications and issues floodplain permits.
Reviews and reports to decision-making bodies on open lands bond applications, floodplain variance applications, subdivision proposals, neighborhood plans, voluntary zoning district applications, and zoning variance requests.
Provides professional support to the County Commissioners, County Planning Board, the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, the Open Lands Board, the Impact Fee Advisory Committee, and the Streamside Setback Committee.
