The Ravalli County Extension Service works with groups and individuals in an educational or organizational role primarily in the area of youth development, agriculture, horticulture, natural resources and programs on understanding the community. Ravalli County, the USDA, and Montana State University, of which the two local extension agents are faculty members, fund the Extension office jointly.
Specific organizations, either created by Ravalli County Extension or in partnership with it include:
- 4-H youth programs involving many clubs of youth working with volunteer adult leaders in Ravalli County.
- Ravalli County Weed Board
- Bitterroot Water Forum
- Kids First, an organization designed to help county youth develop positive life decision making skills
- Master Gardeners, both an educational training event as well as growing season gardening advice
- USDA Agencies
- Right -To - Farm and Ranch Committee
Specific services include: weed free hay certification, plant identification, soil and feed testing, pest management and pesticide education, stewardship training, and youth leadership development.
