The 911 Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is staffed by 1 to 3 operators at a time. Operators answer all incoming 911 and non-emergency calls. The center is enhanced 911 now and has been since December 2006. It is also Phase II Wireless as well.
When fully staffed, the center has 14 full time operators (including the director) and 3 part time operators on call. Also on staff is 1 Critical Incident Stress Intervention trained dispatcher, the Director. Operators work a minimum of 40 hours a week.
Operators undergo 6 months of training and are required to attend the academy for 1 week. as well as to become EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) trained and obtain CPR certification. They are also required to obtain continuing education in this area, as well as in their Criminal Justice Information Certification.
