Montana law allows a certified birth certificate to be issued only to:
- Self
- Mother
- Father (if listed on the certificate)
- Spouse
- Child
Grandparents are not authorized to obtain a certified copy unless they are legal guardians of the child. Guardianship papers must be provided to our office.
Uncertified (informational) copies can be issued for births that have occurred 30 years prior to the date of the application. In Ravalli County we still need to know the relationship of the person requesting the copy.
- Fees: Certified Copy - $5.00 plus .50 for postage
